Invention marks the past and shapes the future. Themed Eureka!, this year’s National History Month is a celebration of humanity’s spirit for creation and discovery. Studio/K will be narrowing its focus on the invention of the birth control pill.
Alternating between panel discussion, video fragments, and spoken word performance, the programme will celebrate the birth control pill as a weapon of emancipation. The programme, will, however, also be looking at the birth control pill through a critical lens, discussing its many health ramifications, as well as its contribution to social inequalities. The panelists will range from medical practitioners to people speaking from personal experiences.
Join us on the 5th of October at Studio/K, to appreciate the complex history of birth control, and to glean towards its future.
